第一次看到新辉的画，不觉一怔，一股清新、严谨、自然之风扑面而来。今日世界，我们处处沐浴着前卫艺术，无论是主动还是被动，我们欣赏着“伤痕”、“发呆”、“混沌”、“蠢蠢欲动”。回味着只有我们这几代人才感觉过的桎梏、伤仇、迷茫和迷失，仿佛又回到了从前，同时感受大师们艺术化的极端。我时时感慨，难道我们总要活在过去的阴影中吗?新辉的画让我眼前一亮，星星给我们带来了希望，使我们看到了世界的有序可循，星星的光芒，唤醒了我们对未来的欲望，唤起了我们的责任感、我们的好奇。原来，世界还有另一幅样子，不仅回首，还有前瞻。星星是希望，新辉如画，也带来了中国的抽象艺术的另一面，是一个新的符号，风格或趋势?总而言之，是希望，是新意，是人类的追求……

　　和新辉聊天，又有一个并不惊讶的发现，新辉曾作为圆明园画家村的最早成员，曾经前卫艺术之先锋。经历过阵痛，思索到成熟、稳健，如今用他细腻的感情和饱满的画笔更多地揭示自然和生命中的美丽和希望。

　　When I first set eyes on Xinhui's paintings, I was mesmerized. A natural breeze of rigor and freshness emanated from them. In today's world, we are everywhere immersed in the avant-garde; whether consciously or passively, we are appreciating artistic modes of the "Scarred," the "Trance," "Chaotic," "Embryonic." For people of our generation this seems an aftertaste of past experience, of being fettered, wounded and vengeful, perplexed and lost; it seems we have returned to the past, and also we feel our great artists have taken their art to an extreme.

　　I often sigh and wonder if we must always live in the shadow of the past? But Xinhui's paintings brought light to my eyes; his stars give us hope, and show us that the world holds a precedent to follow. The radiance of stars awakens hope for the future, and arouses our sense of responsibility and our curiosity. There is still a model in the world that encompasses both reminiscence and looking forwards. Stars are hope, and Xinhui's paintings show a different side of Chinese contemporary art; but are they a sign, a style, or a trend? Overall they represent hope, freshness, and the human quest.

　　Chatting with Xinhui brings an unsurprising discovery, that he was a founding member of the Yuanming yuan artist community, and a forerunner within the avant-garde. After a process of labour pains, deep thought, maturity, and stability, now he uses exquisite feelings and bold strokes to proclaim the hope and beauty in both man and nature.
